Grammar of Russian Verbs

The verb is a part of speech expressing an action or a state:

мы бежи́м – we are running
он сиди́т – he is sitting

In Russian there are only three verb tenses: Present, Past and Future. Additionally all Russian verbs are divided into two groups: a verb can be perfective or imperfective.

Being conjugated Russian verbs change their endings depending on what type of conjugation they belong to. There is also a number of irregular verbs which completely or partially change their form in different tenses. Some verbs change only a part of their stem.
